Norwalk Fire Deparment

Congratulations to the Norwalk Fire Department, which was selected as the winner of the Connecticut Interlocal Risk Management Agency’s  2025 Risk Management Award in the Substantial Impact on Total Cost of Risk category.

The Norwalk Fire Department was recognized for its Injury Prevention and Wellness Program, which promotes firefighter fitness, mobility training, nutrition, and mental wellness.

According to a press release, the Norwalk Fire Department has reduced workers’ compensation costs by 27 percent annually and decreased claim severity from $919,000 in 2019-2020 to $255,000 in 2023-2024.

The award was presented at CIRMA’s 45th Annual Meeting on Jan. 31 in Hartford.

Congrats to Choice Pet!

Choice Pet, which was founded in Norwalk in 1978, recently opened a new location in Shelton, according to CTInsider. The new store is at 785 Bridgeport Ave., in Fountain square.

Choice Pet offers organic pet foods, treats and chews as well as other products.

Grocery Store a Go this Summer

There's a lot of excitement about the new Wegmans grocery store, which is set to open in July. The company chose Norwalk to have its first Wegmans location in Connecticut.

The 92,000-square-foot store, located at 675 Connecticut Ave., will employ about 500 people when it opens on July 23. The store is currently hiring. To learn more, visit here

I'm looking forward to the grand opening.
