9/11 Memorial Ceremony in Westport Today
The public is invited to attend the State of Connecticut’s annual 9/11 Memorial Ceremony, honoring and celebrating the lives of those killed in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

This year’s ceremony will be held today, at 5:30 p.m. at

Sherwood Island State Park in Westport.

Family members of those who were killed in the attacks will participate, and the names of the 161 victims with ties to Connecticut will be read aloud.

Connecticut’s official memorial honoring the victims of the attacks is located on a peninsula at Sherwood Island State Park, where on a clear day the Manhattan skyline can be viewed across Long Island Sound. The state park was chosen as the site for the memorial because it is the location where, in the hours immediately following the attacks in 2001, many people gathered to observe the smoke and devastation on Lower Manhattan from across Long Island Sound. The same site was also used by the Connecticut National Guard as a staging area for the state's relief efforts in New York City.

CT Stand Down 2024 Set for September 20th
The Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) is preparing for its annual STAND DOWN event which will be held at six regional locations, including:

Slow Down, Obey the Orange
So many men and women put their lives on the line working on Connecticut roads to help keep us safe. Let's return the favor. Obey The Orange. Slow down, and pay attention to your surroundings before entering work zones.

"Welcome to Connecticut" Signs Are Up
Seven "Welcome to Connecticut" signs were raised at key points along Connecticut borders today with each sign displaying a unique aspect of the state's identity and opportunities available. Click HERE for more details.

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month
This is the month to spread knowledge and support those affected by prostate cancer. Please click on the image below to learn more about the month and this curable disease - if detected early - that affects about 1 in 8 men in their lifetime.

This event provides the community an opportunity to participate in a fun-filled day that includes exploring the city's vehicles and learning about the services Norwalk provides. Community services, Police, Fire, Health and Traffic, Mobility and Parking, are among the departments that will be represented at the event.

*Please consider bringing non-perishable items and kid-friendly snacks for the Open Door Shelter, an organization I am fond of and fully support.
