Updates from State Rep. Farley Santos for Sept. 5, 2025

September 5, 2025

It’s heartbreaking to share that the Costa Family’s Brazas Market & Churrasqueira has been forced to close for the foreseeable future after a devastating Aug. 31 fire.

Please consider supporting through their GoFundMe [https://bit.ly/HelpBrazas], or reach out to me if there are other ways you’d like to help.

This isn’t just a restaurant, it’s a dream, a livelihood, and a place that has brought so much warmth to our community.

The Costas have poured love into our community for years. Let’s pour it right back when they need it most.

Dog Day in Danbury

It’s always a great day when we get to cut a ribbon for another brand-new business we helped open in Danbury! Every opening means more jobs, more options, and more growth for our community.

Congratulations to Carol on the grand opening of Central Bark Danbury on Kenosia Avenue - a wonderful new spot for your pets to get the true care they deserve! Be sure to stop by and check them out or visit centralbarkusa.com/danbury/.

I even made a new four-legged friend today!

Danbury Car & Truck Festival

I had a great time at the Danbury Car & Truck Festival benefiting the Danbury Police Cadets. Mayor Roberto Alves, a proud former cadet himself, knows firsthand how vital this program is to our community and why he has invested in it. It’s a perfect example of how we can create a pipeline of future community police officers who already understand and care about the city they serve.

That’s why, in this past legislative session, I fought hard to secure $50,000 over the next two years to support the cadets and their mission.

Of course, the festival brought out some awesome cars and trucks — though I did miss catching a classic VW Beetle (arguably the greatest car of all time if you ask me).

Thank you to Bob Botelho for organizing this great event. Proud to support our cadets and these kinds of community events that bring people together.

AC Conn. Banquet

I was honored to be invited to the AC Connecticut Annual Banquet where we celebrated the incredible achievements of our athletes and coaches.

We had the pleasure of surprising Robin Schuppert and Steven Carneiro for their outstanding dedication to our young athletes and their unwavering commitment to helping them succeed.

Congratulations to all of this year’s award recipients, you inspire us with your hard work, passion, and determination both on and off the field! Special thanks to Leila Roxo!

As always, if you have any comments, questions or concerns, please reach out to my office.

Sincerely,

Farley Santos
