Hispanic Heritage Month/PR Flag Raising/Ella T Grasso Leadership Award

September 20, 2024

As a Puerto Rican, I am proud to celebrate Hispanic Heritage month which runs from September 15 through October 15.

This is a dedicated time to feature and celebrate our rich history, as well as the contributions we have made across this great nation. It is a reminder  of the strength in our diversity and the lasting impact we've had in our communities - from the arts and sciences, to politics and business.

For me, it is also an opportunity to honor my roots, share my traditions and help inspire future generations to take pride in their heritage.

And how fitting it is, to kick off the month honoring our dear friend and Meriden resident, Millie Torres-Ferguson with the prestigious Ella T. Grasso Leadership Award! Millie is a fearless leader who is always available to answer the call and fight for what is right. Congratulations Millie on this very well deserved honor.

Let's continue working, supporting each other and making history together!

Puerto Rican Flag Raising Ceremony
Can you tell I was beaming with pride during the Puerto Rican flag raising ceremony at the State Capitol? The CICD Parade Committee, colleagues, friends and family gathered at this great event, ahead of Hartford's Puerto Rican Day Parade this Sunday.
