| My name is Maya, and I am Rep. Kara Rochelle’s Legislative Intern for the 2025 Regular Session! I am thrilled to be working with Rep. Rochelle and assisting to her critical work advocating for local economic growth, middle-class and working families, affordable healthcare, blue collar workers, housing development, and more in her districts and the state. I’m a Junior at the University of Connecticut, pursuing a degree in Human Rights and Political Science on the pre-law track, with a minor in Social Responsibility and Impact in Business. As a student passionate about social justice, my interests lie in the intersection of human rights with law and policy frameworks. In my previous role as a legal intern at a civil litigation firm, I gained a deeper understanding of how laws can be used as a tool for social reform through my involvement in legal lobbying efforts. In my current role as a legislative intern, I am eager to learn how policies are crafted, debated, and enacted to reflect the calls for change from representatives, advocacy groups, and society at large, and I am excited to contribute to this process. I’m halfway through my time at the General Assembly, and it’s been an incredible learning experience so far. I’m grateful for the opportunity to work alongside Rep. Rochelle and her dedicated staff, and I’m excited to continue supporting the work that’s making a real difference in Connecticut’s communities. I can’t wait to see what the rest of this session brings! |
