Youth Employment Opportunities

September 25, 2024

Connecticut’s Youth Employment Program continues to expand and is now available all year round.

The program helps youths ages 14-24 explore careers, work side-by-side with professionals, receive job training and experience, and build career networks - all while earning a paycheck.

The YWCA Hartford Region is one of the many partners across the state that participate in the program, which is overseen by the Connecticut Department of Labor (CTDOL) and administered by the state’s five Workforce Development Boards.

Locally, interested youth or parents should contact Capital Workforce Partners located at 1 Union Place in Hartford (860) 522-1111.

CTDOL also partners with the Department of Children and Families (DCF) and the Court Support Service Division (CSSD) to ensure both systems can access youth programming.

Approximately 94% of youths participating in the program are high school students, 2% are in college, and 4% are not in school.

Additionally, with a focus on disconnected and underserved young people, the program provides community support and resources.

More information can be found on the Connecticut Youth Employment Program’s webpage.

By connecting youth with meaningful jobs, it helps them build professional networks, gain valuable work experience, and improve their resumes. Together let’s support the next generation of leaders and innovators!
