| The state has broken ground on a $32.5 million renovation of Waterbury's train station, which promises to improve safety, accessibility, revitalize downtown Waterbury, and reconnect the community to the historic Union Station building. This game changing investment opens doors for our commuters, workforce, and businesses because public transportation drives our local economy. |

| Waterbury will have a new 1,600-square-foot indoor waiting area in the Union Station building containing seating, restrooms, security cameras, and customer information displays. |

A new 350-foot high-level platform will feature:
- ticket vending machines
- real-time train arrival displays
- improved lighting
- expanded waiting space for passengers

| During construction, the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will provide substitute bus service beginning this upcoming summer. Construction of the indoor waiting area will start in November, followed by platform work in early 2026. The new waiting area is expected to open in the fall of 2026. |

| Food Universe Marketplace is open daily from 7 a.m. – 9 p.m. at 96 Grove Street in Waterbury, and offers a wide selection of fresh produce, a full-service deli, prepared meals, fresh meat and seafood, baked goods, flowers, and international groceries to meet every household's needs. |

This opening is especially meaningful because the neighborhood has long been considered at a food desert, where constituents have had limited access to affordable, nutritious food. Now, local families will have a convenient, local option for fresh and healthy ingredients.
