Green New Deal

March 7, 2019

CT is pursuing a Green New Deal to invest in renewable energy and green technology. House Bill 5002, An Act Concerning the Development of a Green New Deal, came before the Energy and Technology Committee for a Public Hearing.

If passed, the bill would allow the state to create new programs and provide additional funding for new and existing services concerning energy efficiency, the deployment of renewable energy resources, sustainability initiatives and resilience of the electric grid and coastal protection.

Connecticut has been a leader in pursuing green jobs. Nearly a decade ago, as a member of the Majority Leaders’ Job Growth Roundtable, I worked to ensure the massive Jobs Bills of 2010 and 2011 included investments in the green economy.
