Meeting with UConn Board of Trustees Members
I had the great opportunity to visit UConn Avery Point with State Representative Aundré Bumgardner this week to talk with and hear from the UConn Board of Trustees members, senior leadership and campus leaders. They highlighting some of the exciting things happening at Avery Point along with the great things going on with academics and research.
 
End of Session Forum
I hope you'll join me Monday, June 17 from 5:45-7pm for an end of session forum along with State Reps. Christine Conley and Aundré Bumgardner at the New London Public LIbrary (63 Huntington Street, New London). We will discuss all of the work we accomplished this legislative session, talk about our priorities for next session, and, more importantly, hear what issues matter most to you. I hope to see you there!
 
Army Birthday
Thank you to all who have served and continue to protect our country in the US Army. Happy Birthday and thank you to the men and women of the U.S. Army
 
Immigration Advocacy & Support Center Visit
I had the great opportunity to visit IASC (Immigration Advocacy & Support Center) to hear and hear and learn specifics about the great work they do providing immigration-related legal services and education in Southeast Connecticut. Thank you to Fritny Fontilus, Angela Florez - Penilla and the many other staff for the time and work they do for the City of New London, Connecticut Community.
 
Hispanic Alliance of Southeastern Connecticut Scholarship Award Celebration
Attended a great event City of New London, Connecticut Hispanic Alliance of Southeastern Connecticut did an amazing scholarship awards celebration at the Connecticut College Blaustein Hall Dinning Room. Congratulations to all the recipients and leaders in our community that advocate and support the Hispanic Alliance.and our youth.
 
Great Wolf Lodge Construction Milestone
I had the great opportunity to be part of a great construction milestone at the Great Wolf Lodge last beam raising. The project with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, Great Wolf Lodge and Turner will be coming into fruition in spring of 2025. Big thanks to Chairman Rodney Butler and the Tribal Council for the great fellowship, amazing food and opportunity to be part of such a great milestone. Big things coming to Foxwoods Resort Casino
 
Tow Youth Justice Institute Shout Out
Big shout out to Tow Youth Justice Institute Thank you for your staunch work helping legislators and staff understand the use of effective, data-driven practices, programs and policies related to youth justice that continue focusing on the needs and wellbeing of youth.

 
Your work and information is an important resource in shaping better futures for our communities. Your commitment to evidence-based solutions ensures that the voices and needs of young people are prioritized, and your efforts make a profound impact on the development of fair and just policies. RMMS-New London Graduation
I was honored to speak at the RMMS- New London graduation in regards to youth being change agents. RMMS is committed to developing students that are respectful, inquiring, knowledgeable and reflective change agents, empowered to create a sustainable planet and a more just and peaceful world. Congratulations to the students and teachers.
 
Bennie Dover Jackson Multi-Magnet Middle School Graduation
Had the great opportunity to attend the Bennie Dover Jackson Multi-Magnet Middle School Campus graduation at the New London High School Multi-Magnet Campus. It was great to see the students represent so well, support one another and reach this great milestone in their journey in education. We all know how challenging it is with peer pressure and outside influence when in middle school....Great thing is the students and teachers at BDJMS accomplished all they did to make this success day happen.....Congratulations to you all.
 
BP Learned Graduation Ceremony
It was so great to hang out with our preschoolers at the BP Learned graduation ceremony. Congratulations to our preschoolers and parents.
 
C.B. Jennings Graduation Ceremony
I loved attending the C.B Jennings graduation ceremony. It was great to see how proud the student are to move up to the next phase of education to become successful Middle School students. Congratulations to you all.
 
Music at the Hempsted Houses
Great day over weekend Great opportunity spending time at the The Hempsted Houses in the City of New London, Connecticut. Great morning service with amazing bands from the Bennie Dover Jackson Multi-Magnet Middle School Campus & New London High School Multi-Magnet Campus.
 
Aspiring Educators Diversity Scholarship Program
If applicable, I encourage you to apply for the Aspiring Educators Diversity Scholarship Program. This program is available for diverse students who graduated from a public high school in an Alliance School District - which the Groton and New London School Districts are a part of!

Students enrolled in an approved educator preparation program in Connecticut are eligible for up to $10,000 annually for undergraduate or graduate programs.
