Celebrating Safely
As we gear up for festive celebrations, let's remember the importance of firework safety! Ensure a fun and safe experience by following guidelines: keep a safe distance, never relight duds, and always have water nearby. Let's celebrate responsibly and protect ourselves and our communities.
 
Rollin' with Rep. Nolan - IASC
On this week's Rollin' with Rep Nolan, I was joined by Frinty Fintilus, a paralegal from the Immigration Advocacy and Support Center (IASC).

IASC is a nonprofit that specializes in providing affordable legal assistance to those in the community. For example, IASC provides a $25 consultation fee, help with citizenship applications, parole sponsorship, and much more.

Shoutout to New London Fire Department
Big Thank You to the City of New London, Connecticut Fire Department (NLFD IAFF Local -1522) we appreciate you and your tireless work in our community. I received many thoughts, prayers and good vibes for the amazing things you do to keep us safe. Thank you and the many that assist you in saving lives and structures in our communities. Thanks for Photos Al Mayo.
 
Funds for Early Childhood in New London
Great to have been part of bringing back to the City of New London, Connecticut 2 Million dollars to go torwards funds for Early Childhood. Big thanks to the Office of Governor Ned Lamont Office of Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz Board of ED, NLPS Administration and Staff, Commissioner Beth Bye and fellow Legislators for helping bring this home to New London.
 
100 Most Influential Blacks in CT Awards Event
Had an amazing night being recognized with so many other 100 Most Influential Blacks in CT Awards Event at Foxwoods Resort Casino Congratulations to all the Brother's & Sisters that were recognized. Big thank you to President Scot X Esdaile, the team of volunteers and all thise who made this such an amazing event.
 
Coast Guard Academy Visit
This week I was able to attend the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and witness Day One of Swab Summer where the Class of 2028 will begin their 200-week journey to serve as Coast Guard Officers. This Swab Summer is additionally special as the Coast Guard Academy has overhauled our training program and is implementing new strategies for both training our incoming recruits and our Cadre (the Juniors training the recruits). We look forward to sharing our continuous journey towards developing tomorrow’s leaders as they learn what it means to embrace our core values of “Honor, Respect, and Devotion to Duty.
 
NAACP New London Recognitions
This week we had an amazing time at NAACP New London Branch Recognition Ceremony where we celebrated Sara Chaney, Ruben Santiago, Debbie Phillips, Vice Fonville, Alexis Majors. Thank you to the NAACP Volunteers & Ocean Beach Park & Staff for helping this event be a great success.
 
Summer Civic Leaders Final Presentations
Had the great opportunity this week to attend the Summer Civic Leaders Final Presentations at Connecticut College with the Holleran Center & DOC at the Charles Chu Room in the Shain Library. It was great to see and listen to students that had the opportunity to intern and work with agencies in the City of New London, Connecticut. The presentations were great, I hope to work with students to bring suggestions and ideas into fruition. Thank you to Luis Rodriguez-Torres and the team of people that made this event possible.
 
Community Prayer & Fellowship
I had the great opportunity to attend the Community Prayer & Fellowship in the Williams Street Park City of New London, Connecticut. Thank you to The Samaritan House & Lady Exhale for bringing friends, families and neighbors from towns throughout Connecticut to come together for testimony, food, self-care kits, resources, clothing and a good time. Thank you to Kim Haugabook, Mary Rose and all the volunteers that made this such a success.
 
Taino Productions Salsa Event
This past weekend I had the great opportunity to stop by the Taino Productions LLC Salsa event downtown City of New London, Connecticut. Thank you Taino Productions LLC for giving many in the New London and outside the New London Community an opportunity to have a night of great fun and dance.
 
Birthday Celebrations!
Happy Birthday Celebration to Rosaura Pedroza our great friend and owner to one of our favorite restaurants Pollos A La Brasa Cj Peruvian Cuisine. May you have such a great and wonderful birthday weekend. Thank you Rosaura & Bladimir for all you do for the City of New London, Connecticut.
