Regional Transportation Committee

January 20, 2016

I am honored to have been selected by the Council of State Governments Eastern Regional Conference (CSG/ERC) to serve as a member of the ERC Transportation Policy Committee.

It is no secret that Connecticut’s transportation infrastructure is in desperate need of innovation and repair. Thankfully, we have begun to make the historic transportation investments that are necessary to keep Connecticut economically competitive. As vital as these investments are, it is critically important that going forward we implement best practices and collaborate with other states to learn from their successes and failures.

The major focus of the ERC Transportation Policy Committee has been the need for a robust, safe, secure and environmentally sound, national transportation system; and supporting policies which will ensure appropriate and sustainable levels of investment in our region’s aging and overburdened transportation infrastructure.

As a member of both the Transportation Committee and the Finance Sub-Committee for Transportation Bonding, I have been a strong advocate for upgrading Connecticut’s transportation infrastructure and utilizing innovative and environmentally-friendly designs. Throughout the past two legislative sessions, I have also championed legislation to help improve pedestrian and bicyclist safety on our roadways.
