Dear Neighbor,

The Generation Power CT (GPCT) Emergency Energy Assistance Program will accept applications through March 10. This program provides a one-time grant of up to $500 to help eligible Connecticut households with electric, gas, or fuel expenses.

Increasing energy costs are a challenge for many in the state, but through this program, GPCT has helped to provide families across Connecticut with secure access to heat, power, and water.

It has been a busy week in Hartford. Here are a few updates on legislation that I have cosponsored.

On Monday, the Judiciary Committee held a public hearing on HB 5309, AN ACT CONCERNING THE PROVISION OF NOTICE TO A PARENT OR GUARDIAN OF A MINOR CHILD WHO SEEKS TO RECEIVE PREGNANCY-RELATED HEALTH CARE SERVICES.

On Thursday, HB 5172  which would provide the funds needed for the installation of radar speed signs on Forest Road if passed, also had a public hearing. Thank you to all who testified!

I would also like to highlight three important bills that were voted out of the Environment Committee. HB 5157 would give retailers until July 1, 2027, to participate in the tire stewardship program. HB 5155 would modernize the technology used to report pesticide use. And HB 5156 would establish a climate change superfund.

I proudly cosponsored these bills and believe our actions will protect the environment in the present as well as the future.

Sincerely,

Patricia Dillon
