Dear Neighbor,

On Wednesday, we officially gaveled in the opening day of the 2026 Legislative Session. It is a privilege to return to Hartford to represent our corner of the state. Following the opening ceremonies, we heard the Governor’s State of the State Address. Several local leaders from Northeastern Connecticut joined us in Hartford for opening day.

As we move forward, I am pleased to share that I will continue to serve in the following capacities this session:

  • House Chair: Public Safety & Security Committee
  • Member: Veterans & Military Affairs Committee
  • Member: Committee on Children

I look forward to tackling issues that will benefit our community as well as the state as a whole over the upcoming weeks. Thank you to everyone in the 50th District who has reached out to my office over the past few weeks. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.

Mansfield Train Derailment Update

I spent time at the Emergency Operations Center in Mansfield on Thursday to ensure a smooth, unified response to the recent train derailment and to guarantee that resources were being deployed effectively to keep residents safe. This will be a multi-day incident, but I am thankful for the response from the many agencies and departments that have stepped up to aid in this process. Please follow the Town of Mansfield Facebook Page for the most up-to-date information.

Community and Constituent Connections

Before heading to Hartford, I spent time across the district hearing directly from you.
Eastford Duck Day 2026

On Tuesday morning, I joined the hardy crowd in Eastford at the Ivy Glen to celebrate Duck Day. Despite the freezing temperatures, Scramble the Duck made his prediction: six more weeks of winter.

Windham County Farm Bureau

I attended the Windham County Farm Bureau dinner, where I had the chance to sit down with our local farmers and producers. We discussed the challenges facing the agricultural industry in the Quiet Corner and legislative priorities for 2026 and heard directly from farmers and producers on how we can support them.
3rd Quarterly Veterans Leadership & Legislative Roundtable

I participated in the Quiet Corner Veteran Leadership & Legislative Quarterly Roundtable. Meeting with the heads of our local Veterans groups is essential to ensuring our legislative priorities align with the needs of those who served.

How to Navigate the CT Legislature Event

On February 26th, I will be hosting a How to Navigate the Connecticut Legislature event in Pomfret. This event will be a discussion on the resources residents have access to during the Legislative Session to stay informed and involved over the next few months. You can stay updated and involved in many ways, from watching on CT-N to testifying at a public hearing to staying connected through my updates, and more. I hope to give you access to what you need to follow along this session.

This event will take place at the Pomfret Community Center, 207 Mashamoquet Rd, at 6:30 p.m. on February 26th. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Hampton Legislative Update

To kick off the 2026 Legislative Session, I want to hear from community members like you about your concerns and what you hope to see addressed this session. On Monday, February 16th, join State Senator Jeff Gordon and me for a Legislative Update from 6:30 – 8:00 P.M. at the Hampton Town Hall, 164 Main Street. We are looking forward to connecting with community members and discussing priorities for this legislative session. We encourage all members of the community to attend!

As your voice in Hartford, I need to hear from you to make informed decisions. I regularly post updates on my social media channels (you can like my Facebook page here) and encourage you to follow them to stay updated. Additionally, you can always email me directly or call my office at (860) 240-8585 if you have any questions or to share your opinions.

Take Care,

Pat Boyd
