Dear Neighbor,

More wrong way detection installations are occurring throughout the state. Installations will begin in Norwalk, Westport, Fairfield and Greenwich this week.
Wrong-way crashes have unfortunately become a more frequent occurrence. These accidents have impacted individuals throughout the state, myself included.  My friend Melvin Wells was killed in a wrong way accident in 2019.

Per the CT Department of Transportation,  there were 13 wrong way crashes that resulted in 23 fatalities in 2022, and preliminary data shows there were five wrong way crashes that resulted in seven fatalities in 2023.

During the 2023 session, I introduced legislation that was signed into law that will help prevent and reduce wrong-way accidents. It is wonderful that the state has committed to a project that will help save lives in the future.
