Dear Neighbor,
Rollin' with Rep. Nolan - Southeastern Connecticut Community Land Trust and Hearing Youth Voices
On this week's Rollin' with Rep. Nolan, I was joined by Maya Sheppard, executive director of Hearing Youth Voices, a group that organizes with young people for social justice change, and Mirna Martinez, executive director of Southeastern Connecticut Community Land Trust, a nonprofit that holds land in trusts for greater community purposes like community spaces, affordable home ownership, growing food, and open space.

We had a great conversation about empowering members of our community, developing leadership skills, collaborating with local businesses, and more.

Thank you to Maya and Mirna for joining me for such a great conversation!

Thank you Chamber ECT for all you do connecting our community with the tools to be and help others be successful.

Visiting The Place
This week we stopped by The Place a truly unusual outdoor seafood restaurant in Guilford CT. Dinning was outdoors where you can hear and see the food cooking, crackling wood fire where they roasts sweet corn, savory clams, smoked lobsters, shrimp and much more. The chairs are funny like tree stumps surronding bright red tables. A large menu hovers over the dining area, showing off what's offered to eat. We enjoyed the different setting and the food.
To experience a new place where you can watch your food cook I recommend stopping by.

Grace by Nia at Foxwoods
Enjoyed some time at "Grace" by Nia at Foxwoods Resort Casino this week. Grace by Nia an upscale jazz supper club located within the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut. This venue combines live jazz performances with fine dining, offering guests a sophisticated and immersive entertainment experience. I invite you to stop by for good food, music and great vibes.

Marvin Espy Art on Display
*REMINDER: Today at Lyman Allyn Art Museum there will be an art exhibit by one of our great local artist Marvin Espy. Marvin will be displaying new and recent amazing art. Come to the Lyman Allyn Art Museum for a good night opening reception.
Opening Reception • Marvin Espy: Up from the Asphalt
Celebrate the opening of Marvin Espy: Up from the Asphalt with an evening reception at the Museum.
Reflecting on the senseless killing of George Floyd and the universality of human experience, Marvin Espy presents new and recent paintings in Up from the Asphalt. Using Maslow’s hierarchy of needs as a framework for processing the painful last minutes of George Floyd’s life on May 25, 2020, Espy’s paintings and words offer us a pathway to unite in mourning, stand in resolve, and share in our hopes.
Time: 5 – 7 PM 625 Williams Street City of New London, CT
Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served.
