Dear Neighbor,

Happy Friday! It's been quite a start to the summer season, and I hope you've been staying cool and safe during this incredible heat wave. You can read below for information on the extreme heat protocol in Connecticut, events for you and your kids to participate in this summer, and more. You can click the links below to navigate between sections.

Connecticut's Extreme Heat Protocol

With temperatures soaring, Connecticut's emergency hot weather protocol is now in effect through Sunday. 🌡️

Please stay hydrated, seek shade or air-conditioned spaces, and check on vulnerable neighbors and loved ones. Let's stay safe and cool together! Read below for some critical information about what it means for Connecticut to put the extreme heat protocol into effect.

And be sure to read below for information on Fairfield's cooling centers at the Bigelow Center for Senior Activities, Fairfield Public Libraries, and the lobby of the Fairfield Police Department and Sullivan Independence Hall:

PRIDE Highlight

A monumental moment in our state’s history! 🏳️‍

October 10, 2008 - The Supreme Court ruled that same-sex couples are entitled to full marriage equality under the Connecticut Constitution.

November 12, 2008 - Connecticut issued its first marriage licenses for same-sex couples.

Make Music Day is Today!
A reminder that Fairfield's Make Music Day is TODAY! There will be dozens of performances happening all across the town until 10pm, so there's still plenty of time to catch some music! I hope to see you around!

Move Over Law

Spread the word and save lives!

Connecticut's Move Over law (Sec. 14-283b) requires all drivers on a highway of two lanes or more in one direction to slow down to a reasonable level below the speed limit and, if safe to do so, move over one lane not only for emergency responders and tow drivers, but for any vehicle along the side of the road. If a driver is unable to move over a lane, they are required to slow down and proceed with caution.

Planet Fitness Summer Pass for Teens
Planet Fitness recently began their High School Summer Pass program, which invites high schoolers aged 14-19 to work out at any Planet Fitness location for free until August 31! You can register for this amazing program here.

This program prioritizes teen's mental and physical health while school is on pause, and I highly encourage all teens in our district to take advantage of this opportunity! The closest Planet Fitness in Fairfield is at 740 Villa Ave, and you can search for other Planet Fitness locations in the area here.
