Dear Neighbor,

I hope you're staying cool and hydrated during the searing hot temperatures we're experiencing. Relief is coming soon, but in the meantime, I have included some information and resources that could be of assistance in beating the heat. I have included legislative updates this week and a detailed look at over $9 million in bond funding for our great city! Enjoy the newsletter.

Have a great weekend,
Travis

BILLS SIGNED: EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION, CHILD CARE
Early childhood education and child care became more accessible and affordable with Governor Lamont signing two key pieces of legislation into law on Tuesday. I am proud to have worked alongside my colleagues in the House to make these bills a priority during the 2024 regular session. Please click on the image below for more details.

MEDICAL DEBT PROTECTION SIGNED INTO LAW
Governor Ned Lamont has signed a bill into law that bans healthcare providers and hospitals in Connecticut from providing medical debt to credit reporting agencies. To read more about this legislation, please click HERE.

OVER $9 MILLION IN BOND FUNDING FOR NORWALK
I want to announce that over $9 million in funding from the State Bond Commission is heading to Norwalk for various projects to help keep our great city humming. I want to thank the Commission and Governor Lamont for approving the funding.

A PRESTIGIOUS HONOR: THANK YOU NAACP CT
I am overwhelmed. Thank you NAACP CT for the honor and a special thank you to the constituents of the 140th district for your support!

HAVING PRIDE IN PRIDE MONTH

A monumental moment in our state’s history occurred on October 10, 2008, when the Supreme Court ruled that same-sex couples are entitled to full marriage equality under the Connecticut Constitution. On November 12, 2008, Connecticut issued its first marriage licenses for same-sex couples.

As always, feel free to call me at 1-800-842-8267 or email me at Travis.Simms@cga.ct.gov if you have any questions or concerns. Also, please like my official Facebook Page for regular updates.

Sincerely,

Travis Simms
