The state is expanding the Hartford Flood Compensation Program so that more people can apply for assistance in Hartford. I'll break down who is now eligible for those much-needed funds.

The state is expanding and increasing funding for the Hartford Flood Compensation Program. State Comptroller Sean Scanlon and House Speaker Matt Ritter announced an additional $4 million for the program, which will expand to help businesses owned by people who do not live in Hartford.

Officials say an individual business owner is eligible for up to $50,000. This expansion will give the community the support to repair their properties from flood damage.

The program started in September and originally provided reimbursement to eligible property owners in the City of Hartford who experienced flood damage on or after January 1, 2021. The Office of the State Comptroller distributed the initial allocation of $5 million to more than 335 Hartford residents.

People who live in Hartford or property owners wishing to apply must visit osc.ct.gov/HartfordFlood or Blue Hills Civic Association (Colin Bennett Building: 1229 Albany Avenue, Third Floor, Suite 306, Hartford, CT) to obtain an application.

I am proud to host a community event to educate the public on the free resources, programs, and services available to them. The First Family Resource Fair will be held Saturday, June 15 from 11 A.M. – 2 P.M. at Maria Reina de la Paz Church on New Britain Avenue.

Officials from hospitals, state agencies, and other organizations will share critical information that can help individuals and families. You will also meet some of my colleagues as we serve food and play music in a relaxed atmosphere.
