Summer Swimming Options in Waterbury

May 23, 2024
The hot summer season is just around the corner, and I know the kids are going to crave a cool spot to beat the heat. Waterbury's only public pool that will be open this summer is the brand-new one in Hamilton Park, which is in the final stages of construction.
The pool at Hamilton Park is expected to open in June 2024.
Crews are also replacing the other two public pools in Fulton and Washington Parks, and they will open in June 2025. The city of Waterbury invested American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to replace every public pool, which means we will have three state-of-the-art facilities by next year.
The pool at Washington Park will open in 2025.
Please register your kids online if they wish to swim at Hamilton Pool. CLICK HERE to create an account with the Waterbury Bureau of Parks and Recreation. When you arrive at the pool for the first time, an employee will take your picture and verify your information. You will have the ability to register for a one-hour session. Waterbury residents can only register for a one-hour session each day on a first-come, first-serve basis.

There are a number of nearby alternatives if your family is looking to beat the heat this summer. The following swimming areas offer local beaches:

  • Woodtick Recreation Center in Wolcott
  • Lakewood Park in Waterbury
  • Hop Brook Lake Recreation Area in Naugatuck

I hope you have a wonderful summer and enjoy Hamilton Pool once it opens to the public!
