The most important part of my job is advocating for my district. Before the start of session, Representatives Arzeno, Meskers and I were made aware of an important traffic safety project along the Glenville Corridor that had been put on hold due to lack of funding.
After extensive discussions with the Connecticut Department of Transportation, Western Connecticut Council of Governments and the Greenwich Department of Public Works, we secured state funds to begin construction of this long-awaited traffic and pedestsrian safety improvement project in the Glenville corridor. The town needs to complete a final grant application process with the CT Department of Transportation so that we can move forward on this project.
We thank Leslie Moriarty for spearheading an effort at the Greenwich Board of Estimate and Taxation (BET) to appropriate funds into the 2025 budget to move the project forward, and salute Jim Michel, Deputy Commissioner of Greenwich DPW for his efforts on this vital project.
In addition, Governor Lamont recently announced that he was awarding grants to several non-profits in Greenwich and Stamford. These include:
- $282,520 for Greenwich Hospital
- $1,432,075 for ARI (Always Reaching for Independence) of Connecticut in Stamford
- $55,800 for Inspirica of Stamford
These non-profits and the many others that provide critical services to Connecticut residents facing mental health and substance abuse issues, homelessness, intellectual and developmental disabilities, among others. Supporting these non-profits helps us build stronger communities.
