Rep. Delany Legislative Update 9/1

September 1, 2022

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I hope you and your family have been well and are enjoying the warm weather. I would like to officially welcome back our students, teachers and staff to the start of school year!
And while I hope your academic season is filled with learning. I also hope that it filled fun and lasting memories!!

This week I was out and about in Stamford, linking up with leaders in the community to promote events geared towards making our community a better place.

Below you will find more detailed information on where I have been, and on the programs that I hope will be useful to you and your family.

PRE-SCHOOL YEAR VACCINATIONS

Earlier last week my colleagues and I brought awareness on vaccine safety for our students ahead of the school year.

Kids ages 6 months and older can now receive the Pediatric Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine from free clinics all around the city and state!

I would like to thank Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz, State Representative Cory Paris and my colleagues in Stamford Delegation for championing our state’s public health!!

However, most of all I would like to thank the heroes of medical infrastructure!! From the head of the CT Department of Public Health, to our leaders in the Stamford Health Department, to the doctors, nurses, and essential workers who put themselves in harms way to protect each of us every day!!

VETERANS CORNER

Last week my colleagues and I in the Stanford Patriotic and Special Events Commission continued our efforts to plan this years Memorial Day parade.

This year‘s memorial day parade will be Sunday, November 6th!

DOMUS BACK TO SCHOOL EVENT

This year I attended The Domus back to school event.

My colleagues and I welcomed back the students and families (over 350 family members!) of the Domus Knights, Domus Vikings and Domus Middle School Family Advocate programs.

We did everything from teaching families about some of the vital programs that are available to them, to registering people to vote!

Thanks to the hard work of advocacy groups like DOMUS our students are even more prepared for the school year!

CHILDREN’S LEARNING CENTER

I also met with the representatives of the Children’s Learning Center of Fairfield County to discuss the vital work that they do for early childcare education.

Their care and dedication to the well-being of our children is a shining example of the strength of our community!

I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Marc E. Jaffe for the hard work he does advocating for the children’s learning center and our children.

Fun Fact: Not only l does early childcare education give young children the support and structure they need, but over 90% of brain development happens between the ages 0 through 5.
