Voting Rights for Military Families
September 14, 2021Today is the Groton Democratic primary. Registered Democrats will have the opportunity to select the nine candidates that will appear on the Democratic slate for Groton Town Council for the general election in November.
I have received several inquiries about voter eligibility for military spouses. Per an amendment to the Military Spouse Residency Relief Act (MSRRA) passed in 2018, spouses may vote and pay taxes in their active-duty spouse’s state of legal residence. District 1 – Groton Public Library
District 2 – Zbierski House
District 3 – City Municipal Building
District 4 – Mary Morrisson
District 5 – School Administration Building
District 6 – S.B. Butler
District 7 – Fitch High School
Polls will close at 8pm.
