I was happy to work with a Wethersfield resident to have a portion of Route 3, Maple Street, named after her grandfather Edwin H May Jr. He was a lifelong Wethersfield resident, Veteran, US Congressman, Insurance Executive, and founder of the Insurance City Open, now known as the Traveler’s Championship. The presentation was held on what would have been Mr. May’s 100th birthday and was attended by many members of the May family. Next time you are on Route 3 traveling east and cross the Silas Deane Highway, look for the marker. There is another sign on Route 3 traveling in the opposite direction before Elm Street.
