Dear Neighbor,

Great news! This week, Governor Lamont and the Department of Education awarded $5.3 million in state funding through the After-School Grant Program to support programs across the state, including the Manchester Early Learning Center (MELC).

MELC will receive $153,880 for programs at Buckley and Keeney Elementary Schools and an additional $153,880 for programs at Bowers and Waddell Elementary Schools. This funding will help MELC expand its before and after-school programs to offer more support to families.

MELC has before and after-school program locations across the Town of Manchester, conveniently located throughout the public school district. Students in the program are able to receive homework help and participate in engaging activities, which help motivate learning beyond the school day.

This investment is a major win for families in Manchester who rely on these programs for childcare beyond the school day. With this funding, MELC will be able to enhance its program to ensure students across Manchester continue to participate in high-quality after-school programs.
