Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Everyone deserves to feel safe.

In Connecticut, we’ve made strides to protect survivors of domestic violence by passing critical legislation that strengthens protections and expands resources. From enhanced restraining orders to our state’s Red Flag Law, we’re ensuring that every survivor has the help they need to stay safe.

I will always stand with domestic violence survivors and work to build a future free from abuse. You are not alone.

Fairfield Museum and History Center's Award from the CT League of Museums
What an achievement for the Fairfield Museum and History Center to be one of the select few chosen for a 2024 Award of Merit from the Connecticut League of Museums!

The award recognized excellence in museum work by individuals and organizations in Connecticut. Our museum was recognized for their display "Creating Community: 400 Years of Fairfield Stories."

This amazing display celebrates some of the many fascinating stories that make our town so unique, including those from early Native American settlements, the American Revolution, and how immigration has helped make our community what it is today.

If you can, I encourage you to check out this award-winning display and learn more about Fairfield's rich history!

Sustainable Fairfield's New Website
If you have a moment, I hope you'll check out Sustainable Fairfield's new website. Sustainable Fairfield is a wonderful resource for individuals, businesses, and organizations to learn about how we can create a healthy and vibrant environment in our community. And with their updated website, it is that much easier to learn about state programs, sustainability discussions, and ways to get involved.

World's Fair Pop Up Display
The Fairfield Museum and History Center has a pop-up display on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 10am-4pm on New York's 1964-1965 World Fair. More on the program:

"Celebrate American Archives Month at our research library and explore manuscripts on the 1964-65 New York World’s Fair. Fondly remembered today by many who grew up in the tri-state area, the 1964-65 New York World’s Fair attracted 50 million visitors, and it wasn’t even an officially sanctioned world’s fair. After all, Flushing Meadows Park was only a short drive away for Connecticut families looking for a summer destination. Connecticut was well represented at the fair, from the New England States pavilion to General Electric’s “Progressland” attraction."

I'm committed to ensuring your voice is heard. Please don't hesitate to call my office at (860) 240-8585 or email me if there's anything I can do for you. Be sure to follow @LeeperForFairfield on Facebook and Instagram to stay up-to-date on everything I'm doing at the Capitol.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Leeper
State Representative
