Funding for Norwalk
Great news! Two Norwalk based projects will receive funding from the Community Investment Fund (CIF). The CIF Board approved funding for 38 projects, including $3 to Sound Communities, Inc. for its affordable senior housing project and $2 million to the Mid-Fairfield Child Guidance Center to acquire a facility at 98 East Avenue.
Senior housing and behavioral health services for younger residents are a vital part of a thriving community. These projects will ensure that Norwalk residents have better access to the best care and supports possible across the lifespan. Thank you to the CIF board, including House Speaker Ritter and House Majority Leader Rojas, for your consideration

Six Triple Eight Event at Capitol
Last week, I attended a press conference to honor the members of the US Army's 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, also known as the Six Triple Eight. The battalion, which was comprised of 855 women, helped sort through millions of undelivered letters and packages mailed to American troops. They were the only all-female, all-Black battalion during World War II. I was honored to attend a press conference that celebrated their legacy.

Ag Week
Connecticut may be a small state, but its agricultural impact is significant. More than 5,000 farms operate across 372,000 acres, and the state’s agricultural industry contributes approximately $4 billion annually to Connecticut’s economy. In addition to food production, the industry supports a broad network of related activities, including processing, distribution, and agribusiness. Altogether, agriculture provides around 30,000 jobs statewide, making it an important source of employment and economic stability.
Connecticut residents also benefit from year-round access to fresh, locally grown food. With more than 100 farmers’ markets operating across the state, consumers have many opportunities to connect directly with local farmers and producers. Choosing locally grown foods not only supports farmers and strengthens the state’s economy, but also promotes healthier communities by increasing access to fresh, nutritious products.
