Let's Talk About It:
Remembering Dr. Shooks & CLiCK Book Signing
My radio co-host Dennis O’Brien and I paid tribute to the life of a beloved local doctor, and we also spoke with the author of a new book on sustainability on our weekly show “Let’s Talk About It.”

Dr. Charles Shooks was a well-respected physician who helped many patients in the Windham area for decades. In 2013, he was awarded “Physician of the Year” at the Auxiliary to Windham Hospital 18th Annual Autumn Gala. When he wasn’t practicing medicine, Dr. Shooks was involved with our local little league. He passed away from ALS in September at the age of 76. You can learn more about the life of Dr. Shooks by reading his obituary here.
During the second half of the show, we spoke to Phoebe Godfrey about her new book sharing the story of the creation of the Commercially Licensed Cooperative Kitchen (CLiCK) in Willimantic. Godfrey will sign copies of “Understanding Just Sustainabilities from Within: A Case Study of a Shared-Use Commercial Kitchen in Connecticut” on Thursday, October 17 starting at 4:30 P.M. at CLiCK (41 Club Road).

CLiCK is still the only community licensed kitchen in Connecticut, and its facilities provide local, healthy, and sustainable food in Windham and beyond. The organization provides farmers to incubate food-based businesses while improving the health and vitality of our local community.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month
In Connecticut, we’ve made strides to protect survivors of domestic violence by passing critical legislation that strengthens protections and expands resources. From enhanced restraining orders to our state’s Red Flag Law, we’re ensuring that every survivor has the help they need to stay safe.
I will always stand with domestic violence survivors and work to build a future free from abuse. You are not alone.
