Let's Talk About It: 3rd Thursday Street Fest
My co-host Dennis O’Brien spoke to three organizers behind Willimantic’s 3rd Thursday Street Fests on our weekly public affairs show “Let’s Talk About It.” The first event kicks off this Thursday, May 16 along Main Street. Organizers tell us this week’s event is jampacked with more than 100 vendors offering food, beer, activities, music, and so much more.
All three volunteers who spoke on the show shared their expertise and explained what makes 3rd Thursday festivals so much fun! Erin Elizabeth Morelle, the event organizer, suggests you arrive before 6 P.M. because the free parking lots are going to be packed. Chris Beaudry, the entertainment coordinator, told us there will be performers on several stages with live music and entertainment. Chelsea Cherrier, the food vendor and volunteer coordinator, said there will be close to 20 food vendors with cuisine from all over the world.

Please click on the video below to listen to the entire show, learn how to volunteer, and how to get a yard sign to spread the word about 3rd Thursday!

Budget Referendum Today
Just a reminder the polls are open until 8 P.M. for our budget referendum! I recently spoke with Windham Town Manager Jim Rivers who broke down the process in drafting a budget in a collaborative fashion. He also revealed the proposed budget calls for a small tax increase but not at the rate of inflation over the past three years in our community.
