Sworn In, Ready to Serve

Dear Neighbor, 

I was proudly sworn in on Wednesday as the State Representative for the 148th District, serving Stamford. What a moment it was for me, and my family. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your trust and faith in me to represent you in Hartford. I won't let you down. Please take a look at the press release below regarding the swearing-in and a couple of items I would like to share with you this week.

 

STATE REPRESENTATIVE JONATHAN JACOBSON SWORN IN ON WEDNESDAY FOR HIS FIRST TERM

Democratic State Representative Jonathan Jacobson was sworn in on Wednesday for his first term and will represent the 148th district, covering Stamford.

“I would like to thank the residents of the 148th district for their faith and confidence in me to represent them in Hartford,” Rep. Jacobson said. “I am certainly humbled, but I am also honored to serve and look forward to serving the 148th district proudly.

The swearing-in ceremony occurred in the House Chamber on Opening Day of the 2025 Legislative Session.

Rep. Jacobson will sit on the Judiciary, Transportation, and Environment committees.

“I look forward to being an active participant and making an impact on these committees, all of which I have a great passion for,” Rep. Jacobson said.

Rep. Jacobson is a dedicated leader and community advocate, with a passion for public service and a deep commitment to making a difference in the lives of others. He says he is determined to represent the voices of his constituents with integrity and compassion.

Raised in Stamford, Rep. Jacobson has deep roots in the community and a profound understanding of the issues facing the neighborhoods. From a young age, he demonstrated a strong sense of civic responsibility and a desire to create positive change, which has guided his path to public service.

Rep. Jacobson previously served on the Stamford Board of Representatives, advocating for greater transparency and accountability from elected officials and championing environmental initiatives such as Stamford’s plastic bag, plastic straw, and Styrofoam ordinances.

Outside of politics, Rep. Jacobson is a small business owner and practices law as a civil litigator, focusing on assisting individuals and small businesses in Fairfield County. When he is not working, Jonathan enjoys hiking and spending time with his wife Lauren, their son Ezra, and their dog Chewbacca.

With the 2025 Legislative Session Now Underway...
My colleagues and I will tackle several important issues over the next five months. It's easier than ever to follow along and get involved. There are several resources you can utilize that will help you stay updated on the legislative process as it unfolds in Hartford.

Here's how you can stay connected and actively participate:  

  • The Office of Legislative Research (OLR) provides nonpartisan and unbiased research to members of the General Assembly and their staff. Part of their duties include writing bill analyses, which are summaries of bills in plain language. Click here to check out their website. 
  • You can view the Connecticut General Assembly's upcoming events by checking out its schedule on the CGA official website
  • Follow CT-N for live coverage of committee meetings and House and Senate floor debates. 
  • You can register to monitor any bill's journey through the legislative process. You can enter the bill number and receive real-time updates by signing up. Stay informed with email notifications whenever there's a change in the bill's progress.
