Updates from State Rep. Travis Simms for Sept. 12, 2025

September 12, 2025

The killing of Charlie Kirk is a terrible act that violates both the value of human life and the spirit of our democracy.

It may sound surprising coming from a former professional boxer, but I believe strongly that violence is never the answer. especially not in politics.

In a healthy democracy, we work through our differences by talking, listening, and voting, not by resorting to violence. I didn’t agree with Mr. Kirk’s views… at all!!! But no one deserves a death sentence for what they believe.

I’m glad to hear that a suspect has been arrested this morning. Justice should always be carried out through the rule of law, not through violence.
