Happy Friday! I wanted to provide a quick update and share information on upcoming local events:
The next Beecher Park summer concert and HiFi Pie Fest event will be held on Monday, July 20. This week's pie theme is savory. If you are interested in participating, please click here.
New Haven’s pop up cinema will show four films starting Monday July 27 through Thursday July 30 at LOTTA (Lotta Studio). Tickets are $10 dollars and can be purchased at the door.
Switching gears, I wanted to highlight an exciting project that was proposed by a local Eagle Scout. 14-year-old Ryan Fitzpatrick plans to restore and beautify a trail in Edgewood Park. Click here to read a New Haven Independent article that details his plan.
Last but not least, I wanted to highlight a bill we passed that went into effect on July 1. SB 91, which I cosponsored, prohibits federal law enforcement, such as ICE, from entering schools, places of worship, and other protected areas without a warrant. I was proud to vote for this legislation - this bill goes a long way in protecting all of our residents from the whims of the federal government.
