Friends and Neighbors,

This week, I am hosting two events around the Valley where you can learn more and ask questions about what the General Assembly did during this year's session. Tonight, I will hold an education forum at Derby Town Hall, and tomorrow morning, I will have my monthly coffee hour. Read more about both these events below.

Tonight, October 16th, I will be hosting an Education Forum starting at 6:00 p.m. at Derby Town Hall. Parents, grandparents, and educators are all encouraged to attend.

The forum will feature a presentation by the School + State Finance Project to help parents and guardians better understand how state education funding works, the increase in funding for schools in recent years, and where they can see the impacts of this investment. This is an excellent opportunity for parents and guardians to ask questions, learn more about how state dollars support their local classrooms, and hear what the legislature has done to strengthen our schools.

State Representative Welander, State Senator Cabrera, State Representative Jennifer Leeper, Chair of the Education Committee, and State Representative Maryam Khan, Chair of the Special Education Subcommittee, will join me to answer your questions and provide information on where guardians can access the variety of resources and services available to families.

I hope to see you there!

I will hold my monthly in-person “Coffee with Kara” Event TomorrowFriday, October 17th, from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. at Valley Diner, 636 New Haven Ave, Derby.

Ansonia and Derby residents are welcome to attend this event. Please feel welcome to come share your thoughts, ask questions, and provide feedback on state policy issues.

All my Best,

Kara Rochelle
State Representative
