Dear Neighbor,

I had the honor of attending the ceremonial bill signing of HB 5001, a wide ranging bill that addresses several issues relating to seniors in the state.

Studies have indicated that in the coming years, there will be more residents in Connecticut over 60 than under 60. As the state grows older, It is of the upmost importance that we take care of our seniors.

I have made fighting for older residents in our state one of my legislative priorities. In 2021, I cosponsored PA 21-55, An Act Strengthening The Acts Of Rights For Long-Term Care Residents And Authorizing The Use Of Resident Technology For Virtual Visitation And Virtual Monitoring.

This bill made it easier for families to place cameras in long-term care facilities. This change made it possible for more virtual visitation, and also allowed families to observe loved ones from afar to ensure that no wrongdoing was occurring.

Thank you to Rep. Garibay for your leadership in the Aging Committee. Your hard work will greatly benefit our state for years to come.
