Some Great Funding News

June 14, 2024
I was very happy to join the NorthwestCT Manufacturing Regional Sector Partnership, the Northwest Regional Workforce Investment Board, and the Manufacturers Alliance Service Corp (MASC) to announce some key funding that will allow an amazing new workforce training program for the metal finishing industry to purchase necessary equipment.

MASC will receive $300,000 in funds for the acquisition and installation of a self-contained electroplating unit, which will help with the implementation of this "first-of-its-kind" training program. The NorthwestCT Manufacturing RSP’s METAL (Mastering Electroplating Through Applied Learning) team, made up of a number of area metal finishing firms, developed this training program to address the skills gap in the metal finishing industry.

Metal finishing is one of the oldest manufacturing industries in Connecticut, and with MASC located in the 74th district, it also makes it one of the oldest industries in Waterbury as well. This will be an economic boost for our community for such a vital trade that we can not develop our neighborhoods without.

This is some key funding that I'm glad we were able to secure, and I want to thank my colleague Rep. Ron Napoli of the 73rd and all the involved organizations for their work on this project.
