Last week, we passed a deal between the state and Personal Assisted Care (PAC) workers that protects not only their wages but also their physical well-being. PAC workers help care for our elderly, sick, disabled, and those with the most need for a helping hand. They make sure our loved ones live safe and comfortable lives, so it is only right that we make sure these workers can experience these same conditions.
This is a groundbreaking agreement. I was proud to commit to such an important deal.
The agreement:
- Provides historic wage increases
- Acknowledges and rewards longevity
- Provides two additional paid holidays (Juneteenth and Labor Day)
- Expands paid time off
- Expands health care premium assistance
- Supports improved quality and service and career development through voluntary training options and tuition reimbursement
There is still plenty of session left to go, meaning that there are so many more measures we can agree to in bipartisan fashion to best help the people of Connecticut... and I plan to keep you updated along the way.
