Last week, I hosted the second annual Mental Health Day Fair at the State Capitol in recogniation of Mental Health Awareness Month. Prior to the event, my colleagues and I highlighted the importance of mental health and legislation we have passed that will support individuals who need it.
The idea to establish a Mental Health Day came to me during my first few months as a legislator. I observed that many staff members and legislators were burnt out from the hard work and long days. I wanted to create a space of wellness and relaxation for the people in the building, as well as the general public.
My team and I were able to build upon the success of last year's fair - over 40 organizations traveled to the Capitol to share their vital resources with attendees.
Thank you to all who attended! I hope you found the fair to be informative and helpful.
