104th Anniversary Of The Armenian Genocide

April 29, 2019

This year’s keynote speaker was Salpi Ghazarian, the director of the Institute of Armenian Studies at the University of Southern California. She is the founder of CivilNet on-line television in Armenia, and was the editor and publisher of Armenian International Magazine. She lived in Armenia for 15 years and served as Special Assistant to Armenia’s Foreign Minister. We also honored the memory of Dr. Nancy Adrian Humphreys, who died in February. Dr. Humphreys was the Dean of the University Of Connecticut School Of Social Work. She was instrumental in establishing social work as a profession in Armenia, where she was also awarded an honorary doctorate at Yerevan State University for her contributions to the university and the Armenian people. During the Genocide, over one-and-a-half million Armenians were killed by the Turkish government between the years of 1915 and 1923. Five hundred thousand others were driven from their homes into exile.
