Thank you for reaching out to me with your concerns over the Medicare Open Enrollment program. I am so sorry for the stress this has caused you.

Your emails and phone calls are making a difference and your voices are being heard here in Hartford. We are actively revisiting the cuts to this program.

I want to tell you about a program called CHOICES, which stands for Connecticut’s program for Health insurance assistance, Outreach, Information and referral, Counseling, Eligibility Screening.

This is a cooperative program of the State of Connecticut Department on Aging, the area agencies on Aging and the Center for Medicare Advocacy, Inc.

The CHOICES Regional Coordinator for Eastern and Shoreline areas is Laura Crews. She can be reached at (860) 887-3561, ext. 129, or at the Senior Resources Agency on Aging.

You can also call CHOICES at 1-800-994-9422 to speak with a counselor in your area.

CHOICES is comprised of staff and in-kind professionals from local service agencies, and volunteers. It provides information and assistance to individuals age 60 and older and all Medicare beneficiaries including persons with disabilities about:

  • Medicare Supplement
  • Medicare Advantage
  • Medicare Prescription Drug Plans
