Great Progress This Year But More Needed
June 13, 2019The 2019 legislative session has ended. We made great progress, but there is still more work to do.
Minimum Wage Increase, Gun Safety Bills
May 10, 2019It was a busy week at the State Capitol. After a 14-hour debate the House voted to approve a bill raising the current $10.10 minimum hourly wage over the next four and a half years to $15 an hour by June 1, 2023. The House also passed bills related to safe gun storage in the home, safe gun storage in motor vehicles and untraceable ghost guns that circumvent state laws.
Tax Increase Considered For The Very Rich
April 18, 2019“I think this is an attempt to have a more balanced approach to the revenue side of the budget, in terms of who’s contributing,” Rep. Jason Rojas, co-chairman of the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee, tells www.CtMirror.org, referring to legislators' ongoing discussions about whether the state should raise taxes on the very rich.
Working Together Is Producing Results
March 21, 2019What a great story. Manchester groups and the board of education working together to provide new skills and job opportunities for high school students while addressing the lack of diversity among emergency responders. We need more of this. -- Jason
