Aid to Small Hospitals

The Office of Policy and Management announced that the state will distribute $14.1 million to small hospitals through the Small Hospital Pool. With massive differences between large hospitals and small ones in profit margins—differences of hundreds of millions of dollars annually—OPM is taking this proactive action to support six small hospitals.

Governor's $103 Million Proposed Cuts

In the Record Journal story below, my colleagues and I, weigh in on Governor Malloy’s recent announcement ordering $103 million in emergency cuts. This session we fought very hard to maintain critical funding for our most vulnerable citizens during one of the toughest budget negotiations I can remember. While we realize the governor needs to make adjustments amid bad news in the financial markets, it is extremely upsetting to see that we are back where we started. We will continue to defend our programs and will do everything we can to try to find alternatives to help minimize the impact of any cuts.

$600K for Linden St. School Demo

I’m proud to announce the school construction bill (HB 7102) recently signed into law by Governor Dannel Malloy includes $600,000 for the demolition project at the old Linden Street School. This funding adds to the $1.5 million appropriated for the project by the Legislature in 2014.
