Trump Proposes Cutbacks To SNAP Eligibility, Sign Petition

July 29, 2019

President Trump’s latest attack on working families could result in over 11,000 Connecticut residents losing access to food assistance.

Trump has proposed major cutbacks on the eligibility for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), commonly known as food stamps.

If implemented, thousands of seniors, children, working poor and individuals with disabilities will be eliminated from a long standing program designed to help our most vulnerable. This includes children who would lose access to lunches and breakfasts at school.

This short-sighted proposal would dis-incentivize people from working to earn extra income and punish those trying to save for an emergency such as medical needs.

Please consider signing my petition:  “I reject the Trump administration’s proposed changes to SNAP which would remove 11,000 people from receiving aid for food in Connecticut.”
