Rep. Santiago Appointed Chair Of The Banks Committee

January 3, 2019

I am honored to represent hard-working families this legislative session as Chair of the Banking Committee that oversees many important issue areas affecting people in Bridgeport and the state. I would like to thank Speaker Aresimowicz for having the confidence to place me in a leadership position and I look forward to a productive session ahead.

“Throughout his tenure, Rep. Santiago has shown the ability and commitment needed to take on an increasing leadership role in the legislature,” Speaker Aresimowicz said. “I know he will do a great job leading our Banks Committee and will always keep the interests of his constituents first and foremost in his decisions.”

The Banks Committee oversees much of Connecticut's financial sector, including banks, credit unions and the securities industry.

All lawmakers will begin serving their new terms after being sworn in when the 2019 Legislative Session convenes on January 9.

Rep. Santiago represents the 130th district in Bridgeport. In addition to serving as Chair of Banking, he will serve on the Appropriations and Commerce Committees in this upcoming legislative session.
