Let's Celebrate the New Playground in Higganum

Yes, it’s very blue. And yes, we could argue over materials. And no, it isn’t sophisticated. It won’t make the cover of any high-end style magazines.

But it’s there. And it’s ours.

Most importantly, from what I hear, kids love it. And wasn’t that the point, after all?

There’s a ribbon-cutting this Saturday, September 14, at 10 a.m., at the old HES grounds in Higganum Center. All are welcome. Especially children.

Willa Markim is just one of dozens of children enjoying the new equipment in Higganum each week. Thanks to the Markim family for photo permission.

I leave you with this stanza from Dylan Thomas’ Fern Hill.

…And as I was green and carefree, famous among the barns
About the happy yard and singing as the farm was home,
In the sun that is young once only,
Time let me play and be
Golden in the mercy of his means…
