State Representative Linda Orange Appointed as Deputy Speaker

January 15, 2019
Rep. Orange re-appointed as Deputy Speaker

I am please to announce I have been re-appointed to the House Leadership team as Deputy Speaker by Speaker of the House Joe Aresimowicz (Berlin/Southington).

I will also serve as a member of the Joint Committee on Legislative Management, Public Safety and Security Committee and General Law Committee.

As Deputy Speaker, I will serve as Speaker of the House in the absence of the elected House Speaker. In this role, I will also rally bipartisan support for proposed legislation.

I was first elected to the General Assembly in 1996, and has worked on issues concerning hospitals, reducing pharmaceutical costs, and advocating for doctors to order medications instead of insurance companies.

I have also worked to restore funding to the 48th House District’s firefighting schools and training programs.

I am committed to supporting Connecticut’s workforce and education system; ensuring schools provide students with skills to thrive in the 21st Century. I have historically advocated to support Connecticut’s veterans and military families.

During the 2018 Legislative Session, I supported legislation that would increase accessibility for veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury, or military sexual trauma to recover and reintegrate into civilian life.
