BHcare Receives Substance Abuse Prevention Grant

September 8, 2017

With Roberta Cook, BH Care CEO; Kelly Wade Bettuchi, AT&T; and Emily Granelli, BH Care Biz Development at the presentation of the grant

I am proud to have recommended BHcare for a $10,000 grant from AT&T to fund a new substance abuse program for teens. I'm grateful to BHcare for stepping up to help fund such an urgently needed resource to reach and rescue our children.

The grant will be used to develop and implement a Teen/Adolescent Substance Abuse Group at BHcare's North Haven clinic, and will be available for all Shoreline families who are experiencing substance use issues. The program will increase awareness and education for at-risk teens and adolescents to help them develop coping skills to better manage pressures related to school, family and peers. The goal is to help decrease substance use/abuse and risk-taking behaviors, and to teach participants to take personal responsibility for their actions.

BHcare is a regional community provider of behavioral health, addiction prevention, and domestic violence services. This program will be available for adolescents and teens living within BHcare's Shoreline service area which includes Branford, East Haven, Guilford, Madison, North Branford and North Haven.
