Rail Line Safety Funding Approved

March 24, 2016

$10 million was approved to finance cab signal and automatic train control systems on the Waterbury Branch Line under the Let’s Go! CT program.

These funds will go a long way to give Waterbury state-of-the-art automated speed control to keep trains on the track if, for a number of possible reasons, they are going too fast for the configuration of the rails. This project will also allow for the creation of a 'Spur Line' on the Waterbury Line which will enable trains to operate in two directions as opposed to the single track system in place now.

The funding was approved today by the State Bond Commission.
