Creating Jobs and Growing Businesses

October 7, 2015

I was happy to be on-hand to celebrate an important announcement that will help create and retain jobs throughout the state. The IBM Corporation has selected The Business Council of Fairfield County as their first Regional Growth Partner for Supplier Connection, a national initiative which links small and diverse suppliers to large corporations.

This partnership allows small companies to have access to larger markets and economies of larger scale.

We also announced the formation of two new economic initiatives:

  1. Connecticut Supply Chain Roundtable - Will bring together buyers, the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development, the Connecticut Small Business Development Center, business schools, and other groups.
  2. Connecticut Supplier Connection Supplier Development Academy - will offer three courses to help small businesses enter into and succeed in large procurement opportunities and strengthen the suppliers’ ability to meet the per-qualification and due diligence requirements of large procurement buyers.
