Funding for North Stonington EMS Center

August 3, 2015

I am excited to announce that the State Bond Commission approved a $300,000 grant for the Town of North Stonington to assist with the construction of a consolidated town emergency services facility.

With Route 2 traffic, the I-95 interchange, and casinos in our backyard, this consolidated emergency services center is greatly needed in North Stonington.

Getting state support for the emergency services center has been one of my top priorities this past year. I worked tirelessly advocating for this $300,000 and am grateful to Governor Malloy for heeding our call. Also a ‘thank you’ to Sen. Maynard for his efforts and support on behalf of this issue.

In July 2013, residents voted in favor of bringing a consolidated emergency services center to North Stonington at a town referendum. The center will house the ambulance and fire company, both of which are currently located in separate and outdated facilities.

The new center is expected to create 20-30 temporary jobs, and create or retain 25 permanent jobs.

For more information on the new center, you can get in touch with the town’s Emergency Services Building Committee. Click here to send the committee your questions or comments.
