Lawmakers Advocate for Control of State Credit Card

I joined lawmakers in sending a bipartisan message to Governor Lamont to request more oversight over the state’s credit card.

The way the state’s Bond Commission is established in state statute, the Governor is largely responsible for approving bonding funds for projects, however legislators must evaluate all of the projects that are forwarded to the committee.

As the House Chair of the Bonding Subcommittee of the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee, I have seen firsthand how difficult it can be to gain funding for critical community-focused projects.

We negotiate in good faith, but we have a difficult time getting our items on the bond commission agenda. I do agree with Senator Witkos. We do have to beg.
