Black & Puerto Rican Caucus Priorities

February 7, 2019

Rep. Brandon McGee, chairman of the legislature's Black and Puerto Rican Caucus, outlines the caucus's priorities for 2019.

Today my colleagues on the Black & Puerto Rican Caucus and I held a press conference to announce our 2019 legislative priorities, critical issues affecting our communities: housing, justice reform, decriminalization of cannabis use, education and health.

We identified these priorities after many caucus meetings, retreats and innumerable discussions with the people we represent. I very am proud of the work our caucus is doing for our communities.

On Tuesday, Feb. 19, we will continue to push for our priorities with a public forum, and I urge you to attend and testify. The forum is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Room 2C of the Legislative Office Building in Hartford. Sign-up sheets will be available in the LOB Lobby from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Written testimony also may be submitted in advance to Georgette.Cicero@cga.ct.gov

More information may be obtained by sending an email to Georgette.Cicero@cga.ct.gov or by calling (860) 240-8323.
